A Better World offers services from Transportation to Professional writting classes
What Services does A Better World have to offer?
>>>We have a mini-bus to transport students to and from A Better World who reside in the Ashley Park community and the surrounding areas within the 28208 zip code area.
>>>We have onsite professional counselors who provide a warm and safe environment for our students to assist them with their mental, emotional and behavioral needs.
>>>When they arrive, students receive a snack's prior to working on their homework assignments, and/or any other activities that is scheduled for them to do.
>>>In partnership with Warehouse 242 Church, students are able to participate in a creative writing class
>>>A Better World recruits volunteers to help tutor students Monday through Thursday with their homework.
>>>Students have access to a library, and they are required to read on a regular basis.
>>>A computer lab is available to students, which includes access to the internet. Please note — we do use a computer software to help protect students from visiting inappropriate websites not meant for children.For free time, students can play games and do other fun activities indoors and outdoors.
>>>At the end of the day, students at A Better World receive a meal before they go home Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, students receive a backpack of non-perishable food to take home over the weekend.
>>>In keeping with our mission statement to transform the community and its families through its youth; by building their mental, emotional, and spiritual character, students can participate in group devotionals.
>>>We have onsite professional counselors who provide a warm and safe environment for our students to assist them with their mental, emotional and behavioral needs.
>>>In partnership with Warehouse 242 Church, students are able to participate in a creative writing class.
>>>Students can take a photography class. This art provides them with a way to communicate how they see the world. You can view some of their photographs displayed throughout our facility.

A Better World is participating in BI-LO’s boostersplus fund-raising program. You can earn money for A Better World by simply shopping at any BI-LO with your BONUSCARD. Click here to download a sent of enrollment cards and give one to the cashier along with your BONUSCARD to be scanned within your grocery order. This one-time scan will enroll you for A Better World until May 31, 2010, and A Better World will receive one percent of your purchases. All of our students participate in an incentive program, where they earn points for participation, leadership, and good grades. Our parents too, earn incentive points through volunteer hours at the program. How does this work? You can make a donation to support the after school program in denominations of $1. You can donate $1 for each member of your family, church member, your age, etc. For example, if you donate $1 for the number of people that attend your church, and your church has 65 members, then you would donate $65. If you enjoy going to the race track, and plan to do so in 2010, here is a way that you can purchase your ticket and support our effort in serving at-risk youth in our community!
Lowe’s Motor Speedway has established a Fund-Racing Program to help non-profit organizations — like A Better World — to acquire the financial resources needed to help serve their communities. When you purchase a Lowe’s Motor Speedway ticket through the following website: www.lowesmotorspeedway.com/fundracing
A Better World receives a portion of the proceeds! Simply click on the above link, and then… 1. Select the racing event you want to attend. 2. Select the number of tickets you need under “Fundracing Promotion”. (This selection will be made on the Ticketmaster.com website that you will go to after you select a racing event.) 3. Enter the following special offer code: ABW, to the right of the number of tickets you have selected, and then click on “Find Tickets” to complete your purchase.
